A signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding concerning Land Acquisition for the Afghan portion of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project took place on Monday in Kabul, Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
The representative of Türkmengaz State Concern on the Board of Directors of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited Muhammetmyrat Amanov, Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Afghanistan Mahmoud Karzai and Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan Mohammad Haroon Chakhansuri signed the Memorandum.
The successful implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project will have a positive impact on the development of the region and the world in general, particularly in the context of strengthening energy security and establishing essential social and economic conditions, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in the statement.
After completion, the 1840-kilometer TAPI gas pipeline will be able to deliver 33 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas annually to South Asian countries.
