Turkmenistan to Convert Number of Its Textile Enterprises to JSC

Röwşen Individual Enterprise will participate in the reconstruction of the tannery in Mary velayat.

During a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Chary Gylyjov reported to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on the work being done to transform a number of enterprises of the Ministry of Textile Industry into joint-stock companies, the TDH reported on Friday.

To this end, an analysis of the list of objects subject to privatization has been carried out, including the tannery in Mary velayat and the garment factory in Baherden, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Gylyjov stressed that due to the outdated equipment at the Mary tannery, the main function of which is to process and extract the skin of sheep, goats and cattle, its production capacity is used by 30%. In this regard, it is planned to reconstruct the plant and commission a sewing workshop.

It was noted that the implementation of the project is envisaged with the joint participation of the Röwşen Individual Enterprise and the Mary tannery of the Ministry of Textile Industry.

Deputy Prime Minister Gylyjov also said that in order to modernize and expand the range of products, it is planned to transform the Baherden garment factory into an open joint-stock company with the equity participation of the Ministry of Textile Industry and the private sector.

The Head of State noted that the privatization of state property is designed to facilitate the further advancement of the progressive reforms being carried out in the country, and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to make every effort to implement the tasks.
