President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament – Federal Assembly, in Ashgabat on Monday, according to the press release issued by the State Duma.

Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov the greetings from the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Vyacheslav Volodin and Serdar Berdimuhamedov discussed cooperation between the parliaments of Russia and Turkmenistan.

The State Duma Chairman stated the need to develop the parliamentary dimension for the legislative support of decisions taken at the level of the leadership of the two states.

On the same day, Vyacheslav Volodin held a meeting with Gulshat Mamedova, the Chair of the Parliament of Turkmenistan – Mejlis. The Chairman of the State Duma will also address the deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The delegation of the State Duma, led by Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, arrived in Ashgabat on Sunday. The delegation includes representatives of specialized committees of the State Duma.
