Turkmenistan’s Balkan Province Produces Over 2.2 Billion kWh of Electricity

The remaining electricity is sent to Turkmenistan's unified power system.

The new production facilities of Balkanabat State Power Plant in Turkmenistan’s Balkan province generated more than 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2022.
The enterprise fulfilled the work plan for last year by 108.4 percent, the country’s official media reported on Monday.
According to the report, electricity, which is generated in large quantities at the plant, fully supplies the western region. The remaining electricity is sent to Turkmenistan's unified power system.
Balkanabat State Power Plant was commissioned in 2003. Two more gas turbine units with total capacity of 254.2 MW were put into operation in 2010 to provide reliable electricity supply to the rapidly developing oil, gas and chemical complexes of Balkan province. With the commissioning of these units, the total installed capacity of the Balkanabad State Power Plant is 380.6 MW.
