Turkmenistan, Astrakhan Discuss Launching of Shipping Line and Logistics Center

During the talks, the sides stressed that the year 2023 will be marked by the implementation of important joint projects.

The Minister of External Relations of Astrakhan Region Vladimir Golovkov and Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan Nury Golliev in a meeting on Tuesday noted that the prospects for further trade and economic cooperation are closely correlated with activating the North – South international transport corridor, setting up a regular shipping line between the ports of Astrakhan Region and the port of Turkmenbashi, and a logistics center of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan Region.

During the talks, the sides stressed that the year 2023 will be marked by the implementation of important joint projects, and the past year of 2022 was crucial for strengthening fruitful ties between Astrakhan Region and Turkmenistan in various fields, according to the press release issued by Ministry of External Relations of Astrakhan region.

The sides additionally noted that the issues of strengthening trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the Astrakhan region and Turkmenistan were discussed last year at various levels.

These and other issues of our cooperation will be discussed next week at the Russian-Turkmen Business Forum in Ashgabat, which will be attended by a delegation from our region, the minister Golovkov said.

In turn, Turkmen Consul promised to provide necessary assistance in preparing for this important international event.

As part of the implementation of the agreements reached at the 12th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Turkmen Commission for Economic Cooperation in the run-up to the business forum, a working meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Russia and shipping companies of our country with the delegation of Turkmenistan will be held in Astrakhan next week.
