Turkmenistan pays close attention to the development of the green economy, Trend news agency reported on Friday with reference to the United Nations Resident Coordinator to Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko.
"Currently, Turkmenistan pays close attention to the issues of economic transformation and the development of green economy. In this regard, the UN and Turkmenistan will increase interaction with the private sector and promote public-private partnerships," Shlapachenko told Trend.
He stated that the UN and the Government of Turkmenistan have many joint plans, and added that the parties will continue to work together in the implementation of national priorities, including the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"Ultimately, our cooperation with Turkmenistan serves the most important goal - ensuring a decent standard of living for all people in a country where rights and freedoms are respected, creating all conditions for human development, receiving quality and accessible services in health, social protection and education," Dmitry Shlapachenko added.
Turkmenistan currently works on using renewable energy sources for power supply of settlements located on the outskirts of the country, in hard-to-reach areas.
