Non-Oil Trade Between Turkmenistan and UAE Surge 296%

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade said that this growth is being driven by sectors such as renewable energy, automotive parts, broadcasting equipment and vegetable oils.

Non-oil trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates reached $653 million in the first nine months of 2022, a year-on-year increase of 296 percent, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said in his Tuesday tweet.

He added that this growth is being driven by sectors such as renewable energy, automotive parts, broadcasting equipment and vegetable oils.

“I was delighted to welcome Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, and his delegation to the UAE to take part in a UAE-Turkmenistan Business Forum in Abu Dhabi, which seeks to explore ways to continue to further strengthen this prosperous partnership,” Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi stated.

In his speech at the business forum, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said he views the large representative membership of the forum as proof of the special interest of the UAE business groups in Turkmenistan and their desire to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Head of Turkmenistan also proposed to discuss in detail the opportunities for development of investment activities in such industries as electricity, communications, agro-industry, textiles, high-tech and innovative industries, urban development, and renewable energy.

The business forum took place within the two-day official visit of President Berdimuhamedov to the UAE on November 21-22.
