Ambassador Palvanov assured King Philippe of the firm position of his Government aimed at bringing bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Belgium.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium Sapar Palvanov presented the letter of credence to the King of the Belgians Philippe at the Royal Palace of Brussels on Thursday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Palvanov assured King Philippe of the firm position of his Government aimed at bringing bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Belgium, and naturally, with the European Union, to a new high level, the Netherlands-based Diplomatic Magazine reports.

Strengthening trusting relations with the European Union in all possible spheres will be his main objective during his tenure in Brussels, according to the publication.

Ambassador Palvanov speaks English, Russian and Turkish languages. He leads the Turkmen mission located in Brussels, which is also responsible for relations vis-à-vis the European Union, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as well as the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Palvanov joined the Turkmen foreign service back in 2013 by becoming a specialist, and subsequently a lecturer at the Institute of International Relations. From 2015, he specialised at the Americas Department of the Foreign Ministry, and became its Head in 2018.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov appointed Sapar Palvanov Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Belgium (Brussels) in July this year.
