Foreign Trade of Turkmenistan Surges 40.7% in Past Nine Months

The volume of production compared to the same period last year increased by 10.9 percent.

The foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan in the first nine months of 2022 saw a year-on-year increase of 40.7 percent, the Deputy Chairman of Turkmen Government in charge of economic and financial issues Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, announced in his report during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers hosted by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday.

In his report on macroeconomic indicators for January-September period of this year, Geldimyradov informed that the volume of production compared to the same period last year increased by 10.9 percent.

The retail trade turnover saw a year-on-year increase of 10.5 percent, according to the Turkmen official media reports.

The volume of investments in Turkmenistan from all sources of funding in the first nine months of this year grew by 12.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

Addressing the cabinet meeting participants, the Head of Turkmenistan stated that the results of the completed work clearly testify to the successful development of the country, despite the difficulties in the global economy.

He stated that during the nine months of this year, the country’s GDP grew by 6.2 percent, adding that during the period, 20 billion manats of capital investments were utilized in the country.

Focusing on long-term tasks, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to work diligently to complete the current year with positive indicators, to take steps to achieve good results in all sectors and to ensure sustainable growth of GDP.

The government meeting summed the results of activities of sectors of the national economic complex over the past nine months of 2022, and discussed the progress of the Presidential and other programs of socio-economic development of the country.
