Parliamentarians of Turkmenistan and the EU discuss updated EU Strategy for Central Asia, December 2019.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting via video link with the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian on Tuesday.
The parties exchanged views regarding the regional and international agenda, and reiterated the necessity of cooperation and mutual support of the countries and nations in these difficult times for the world community.
The meeting participants considered the issues of the development of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU. In particular, the implementation of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia and the future joint activities were discussed.
Meredov and Burian also discussed the opportunities of implementing joint projects in various fields of the national economy of Turkmenistan.
The new EU Strategy for Central Asia aims to intensify bilateral and multilateral cooperation in security, trade and economic, transport and energy fields.
Issues of international freight transport were discussed during the Monday meeting between Turkmen Foreign Minister and the EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso.
