South Ural Armature and Insulator Plant, based in Russia’s Chelyabinsk oblast, is considering a possibility to localize its production in Turkmenistan, TASS news agency reported on Tuesday with reference to the Head of the company Oleg Molchanov.

A delegation of the Chelyabinsk oblast, led by Governor Alexei Teksler, arrived in Ashgabat on Monday to hold business meetings and participate in events to mark Turkmenistan's Independence Day.

"We particularly discussed with our colleagues from the Turkmen ministry localization. There are opportunities in three areas – polymer insulators, the most perspective one, porcelain and glass insulators and line fittings," Molchanov told journalists.

The products of the plant are supplied to the energy systems of Russia and neighboring countries, for the contact networks of electrified railroads, oil and gas industry, and to other foreign markets – Finland, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Lebanon, Syria, Vietnam, Iran.

South Ural Armature and Insulator Plant JSC is one of the main producers of suspended tempered glass insulators, porcelain insulators and line fittings for overhead power lines, switchgear stations and substations.
