Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan in January-August months of this year amounted to $533.5 million, an increase of 2.7 percent compared to the same period of last year, according to the report published by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
During the first eight months of this year, Uzbekistan imported $387 million worth of Turkmen products. At the same period, the country’s exports to Turkmenistan amounted to $146.5 million. Turkmenistan is listed among the top ten trading partners of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan's total foreign trade turnover during the eight-month period amounted to over $32.12 billion, which, compared to the same period in 2021, is an increase of more than $6.97 billion, or 27.7 percent.
Over the period, Uzbekistan traded the most with China – more than $6 billion, with its imports amounting to more than $4.2 billion, and exports – exceeding $1.7 billion.
Other main partners of Uzbekistan by trade turnover during the period are Russia (more than $5.67 billion), Kazakhstan (more than $2.87 billion), Turkey (more than $2.23 billion), Korea (more than $1.6 billion), Kyrgyzstan ($756.5 million), Germany ($706.7 million), Afghanistan ($470.5 million) and India ($434.3 million).
In 2021, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $881.9 million, which is 61% more compared to 2020.
