Turkmenistan, EU Mull Issues of International Freight Transport

The officials discussed goals and objectives of the updated EU Strategy for Central Asia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso discussed the current state and prospects of multifaceted bilateral cooperation on Monday.

The diplomats primarily discussed the proposal of Turkmen President to ensure stable and reliable international freight traffic in emergencies.

In the context of the positive nature of bilateral cooperation, the meeting participants exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects and programmes launched in various fields.

Energy and humanitarian sectors were specified among the priority areas of cooperation due to the global development trends.

The officials also discussed goals and objectives of the updated EU Strategy for Central Asia.

The European Union opened its Delegtion in Ashgabat in 2019.

The EU Delegation coordinates and supports activities of EU member states’ embassies. The Delegation also maintains and develops cooperation in wide range of fields with Turkmenistan.
