South Korean Companies Present New Projects for Cooperation With Turkmenistan

The online meeting addressed the prospects for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The meeting of the Turkmen-Korean Business Council held on Friday via video link addressed the prospects for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

During the meeting, representatives of Korean companies, including Hyundai Engineering, LG International, GS E&C, made new proposals for cooperation with Turkmenistan in order to modernize and strengthen the material and technical base of its fuel and energy complex.

The Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute KOMERI proposed the strengthening of the legal framework for cooperation through the development of new joint documents and offered its services in organizing seminars and equipment supplies for the merchant marine fleet of Turkmenistan.

The Doosan Heavy Industries, which specializes in water and energy spheres, expressed its readiness to implement new joint projects, including the construction of a water treatment plant on the Caspian Sea coast.

During the meeting, representatives of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) introduced their TradeKorea online trading platform, which provides opportunities for the online sale of products.

The participants of the online meeting expressed confidence that regular contacts will help strengthen trade and economic relations and fruitful cooperation between the business structures of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.

During the forum, the Turkmen side was represented by representatives of the country’s fuel and energy sector, transport sector, textile industry and water management. Heads of the Türkmendeňizýollary (Turkmen Sea Ways), Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant OJST, Deňiz Söwda Floty (Sea Merchant Fleet) CJST also attended the discussions.

The Korean side was represented by the KITA and a number of companies specializing in various fields.

The Turkmen-Korean Business Council was established in April last year.
