Turkmenistan Establishes Cooperation With IFAD

The parties noted their readiness to work to strengthen cooperation to coordinate efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development in agriculture.

The heads and representatives of the ministries of Turkmenistan held an online meeting with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) on Wednesday.

The meeting was organized with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Rome, Italy, where the headquarters of IFAD is located, in order to establish cooperation between Turkmenistan and this organization.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The parties noted their readiness to work to strengthen cooperation to coordinate efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development in agriculture, in particular through the introduction of the latest technologies for desalination and irrigation systems, assistance to agricultural producers, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the future to support programs for adaptation to climate change.

IFAD is a specialized UN agency dedicated to mobilizing financial resources to increase food production and improve agricultural technologies in rural areas.
