During the previous two months Turkmenistan’s trade sector saw a growth rate of 8.8%.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the online cabinet meeting on Friday announced that GDP growth rate has remained at 6.2% since the beginning of the year.
During the meeting, the Head of State said during the previous two months Turkmenistan’s agriculture sector saw a growth rate of 3.2%, trade – 8.8%, transport and communications – 4%, the country's official media reports.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the large-scale construction of various facilities worth $37 billion mainly for social purposes continues in the country, adding that most of these new buildings worth over $18 billion are being erected by domestic construction companies.
In his report during the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Deputy Chairman of Government in charge of economic and financial issues, announced that in January-February, the retail turnover compared to the same period of 2021 increased by 10.6%, foreign trade turnover increased by 30.7%. As part of the new edition of the National Rural Program, 101 social facilities, 35 water treatment plants, over 326,000 square meters of housing, as well as infrastructure systems were under construction.
Following the report, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to constantly monitor the current situation in the global economy jointly with heads of the ministries and line agencies. At the same time, the Turkmen Leader said the ongoing work in the subordinate structure should be stepped up, naming among the priority tasks the intensification of implementation of the adopted programs of digitalization, privatization of facilities and their transformation into joint stock companies, organization of the securities market.
The meeting considered the results of the national economy sectors for the two months of this year, featured the reports of the respective government officials and considered a number of other important state issues.
