Turkmenistan Becomes Georgia’s Top Petroleum Products Supplier in 2021
Georgia's imports of oil and petroleum products from the Central Asian country also rose 103.1% in quantitative terms.
Turkmenistan became the main supplier of oil and petroleum products to Georgia in 2021. During the period, Georgia imported $191.8 million worth of the Turkmen oil products, an increase of 186.2% compared to 2020 ($67 million).
Georgia's imports of oil and petroleum products from the Central Asian country also rose 103.1% in quantitative terms – from 149,711 tons in 2020 to 304,193 tons in 2021, the Baku-based Trend news agency reported on Monday.
In December 2021, deliveries of oil and petroleum products from Turkmenistan to Georgia amounted to $16 million, an increase of 153.9% compared to the same month in 2020 ($6.3 million).
Other main suppliers of oil and petroleum products to Georgia in 2021 are Russia ($134.6 million) and Romania ($133.7 million).
Last year, Georgia imported $822.5 million worth of oil and petroleum products in total, a 64.9% more compared to 2020 ($498.6 million).
