China Machinery Engineering Corporation announced its intention to cooperate in financing shipbuilding projects in Turkmenistan and training of specialists.
Mammethan Chakiyev, the General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers, last Friday held online meetings with the managements of Chinese companies and entities operating in transport, engineering and logistics spheres.
In talks with the management of the state-owned China Machinery Engineering Corporation, one of the biggest engineering companies of China, the Chinese side announced its intention to cooperate in financing shipbuilding projects in Turkmenistan and training of specialists, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.
The meetings focused on cooperation in the transport-communication sphere, to which both Turkmenistan and China attach special importance, given its significance as a major condition for ensuring sustainable global development.
At a meeting with the leadership of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, the sides discussed the possibility of transiting China’s export-import cargo through Turkmenistan along the most optimal route, increasing the volume of transit cargo transportation by rail, supplying spare parts for the fleet of diesel locomotives and passenger cars, as well as establishing partnerships in this area.
The leadership of the Coordinating Center for International Container Trains of the China Transport and Communications Association showed interest in the transport and logistics potential of Turkmenistan. The sides also discussed the movement of freight container trains through the territory of Turkmenistan in the directions of Europe and Turkey.
The Turkmen delegation led by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited China last week. On Saturday, the Turkmen and Chinese leaders held talks on further development of bilateral economic cooperation.
