The representatives of government agencies of Turkmenistan, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Central Bank held a video conference meeting on Wednesday with the representatives of the World Bank's Central Office.
During the video conference, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the economic and financial spheres.
The sides stressed the need to intensify cooperation between Turkmenistan and the World Bank on attracting investments in agricultural projects of small and medium-sized enterprises. In this regard, the participants emphasized the effectiveness of relations based on the principles of mutual trust and respect.
The participants stressed the need to coordinate the efforts of Turkmenistan and the World Bank for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Turkmenistan joined the World Bank Group in September 1992. In 1996, the Bank established a Liaison Office in Ashgabat.
Turkmenistan currently cooperates with the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and other major financial institutions.
