The accession of the Turkmen side to these documents is expected to contribute to the improvement of the transport and logistics system of Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan will join agreements on the International Transit Tariff and the Unifom Transit Tariff of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD).
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved proposals related to joining the OSJD agreements during the online cabinet meeting on Friday. The proposals were presented by Mammethan Chakiyev, the General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers.
In his briefing, Chakiyev highlighted the importance of favorable competitive pricing policy to stimulate the intensification of international transport corridors in the direction of China-Europe, the opening of new railway routes and increasing the volume of container traffic.
As a full member of the OSJD, Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmenistan Railways) has explored the possibilities of joining these agreements, which will allow developing a convenient platform for harmonizing common tariffs for transit along China and Europe route.
The accession of the Turkmen side to these documents will contribute to the improvement of the transport and logistics system of Turkmenistan, the analysis of tariff information, and the expansion of the geography of rail transit traffic, Chakiyev added.
Approving the proposals related to joining the agreements, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of exchanging experience and useful innovative developments with foreign partners, instructing to study in detail the issues in this direction.
The Turkmen Leader also pointed out the need to create favorable conditions for multimodal logistics and transit traffic in order to maximize the potential of Turkmenistan in this area, expanding the types of services using digital technologies.
