The Turkish company will implement the turnkey construction of the hybrid power plant in Serdar etrap of Balkan velayat.

The Turkish energy company Çalık Enerji will build hybrid solar-wind power plant with a capacity of 10 megawatts in Turkmenistan.

The company has won the international tender, announced by the Turkmen Energy Ministry, for the construction of the hybrid power plant, Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Government for the industrial and construction complex, briefed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the online cabinet meeting on Friday.

The Turkish company will implement the turnkey construction of the power plant in Serdar etrap of the country’s western velayat of Balkan, on the territory of Altyn Asyr Lake. Çalık Enerji will also lay a 110 kV power line from the Serdar power plant to the country’s power system.

The facility will generate clean energy, providing reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the settlements that will appear around the lake, Purchekov said, adding that this is a unique project in the history of Turkmenistan, the implementation of which will increase the capacity of the industry, train national specialized personnel, and create new jobs.

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to continue work in this direction, taking into account its great importance for capacity building and modernization of the infrastructure of the domestic electric power industry.

Emphasizing the importance of green energy projects, the Head of State stressed that the construction of cost-effective alternative energy facilities that do not harm the environment will directly contribute to the successful implementation of all plans, including the development and ensuring environmental well-being in region of the Turkmen lake Altyn Asyr.

In June last year, the Government of Turkmenistan and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund (ADFD) signed an agreement to finance the construction of a 10 MW hybrid power plant at a cost of 92 million dirhams (around US$25 million).
