The Turkmen Railways Agency had signed a contract for the supply of a large consignment of steel rails with the Latvian company SIA HB.
The Turkmen Railways Agency is overhauling the topsides of the railway track in Ahal and Balkan velayats. The replacement of worn-out rails with new ones began in the area between Bami and Bereket stations.
The first 10 kilometers of a new steel track will be laid along this stations in the near future, the official media of Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday.
The Agency will also replace a total of around 50 kilometers of rails in the sections of the railway from Ashgabat to Turkmenbashi this year. The 50 kilometers of the old tracks will also be renewed on sections of the railway running from Ashgabat to Turkmenabat next year.

In early October Demirýollary Open Joint-Stock Company received from the Russian Transmashholding (TMH) a passenger diesel locomotive TEP70BS and a mainline freight diesel locomotive 2TE25KM. The delivery was carried out in accordance with contracts concluded in October and November 2020.
