Over the first nine months of 2021, Turkmenistan’s external trade turnover increased by 12.3% year-on-year to $9 billion.
Turkmenistan’s exports reached around $6 billion during the first nine months of 2021, representing a year-on-year increase of 20%. During the period, the country’s non-fuel exports saw a year-on-year increase of almost 50%, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced during the cabinet meeting held online on Friday.
The Head of State also highlighted the high growth rate of the country's economy, adding that the GDP increased by 6.2% during the nine-month period, the country’s official media reports.
Over the first nine months of 2021, Turkmenistan’s external trade turnover increased by 12.3% year-on-year to $9 billion.
Instead of the planned 30 facilities, 62 large facilities were commissioned during the period, the Turkmen Leader said, adding that these include around half a million square meters of housing, hotels and entertainment centers, numerous medical institutions and secondary schools.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also stressed the positive dynamics of the ongoing building projects, stating the construction of around 2,500 facilities for around $35 billion is underway in the country. These include the development of oil and gas fields, the construction of gas pipelines, sports facilities, roads, bridges, and social facilities.
Outlining the significant contribution of the Turkmen businesseses to the development of the national economy, the Head of Turkmenistan indicated that the implementation of the adopted program for the production of import-substituting products should be kept under strict control, instructing relevant government officials to monthly report on the progress of its implementation.
