Bagtyyarlyk contract area is operated by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) on the basis of the Production Sharing Agreement.
The Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has been granted a lease for a land plot in Bagtyyarlyk contract area in Lebap velayat for the construction of a water supply system for onshore gas fields. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant order on the lease during the online cabinet meeting on Friday.
During the government meeting, the Vice-Premier Shahym Abdrahmanov, overseeing the country's fuel and energy complex, has presented to the Head of State the project to lease a 26.55-hectare land plot to carry out relevant works, the country’s official media reports.
The 18-hectare plot will be allocated for the construction of complex of engineering structures for the water intake from the Amu Darya river in Farap etrap of Lebap velayat, while the remaining 8.5-hectare plot will be allocated for the laying of a water pipeline to the gas field facilities in the Bagtyyarlyk contract area.
The land plot with water intake facilities will be leased while the production sharing agreement is in force, and a plot with a water supply – for the period of completion of construction works.
In August, the construction of new complex wells were launched at the Galkynyş gas field, the one of the world's largest gas fields. The Turkmen President said the implementation of the project, which makes it possible to create additional reserves of natural gas, will contribute to strengthening effective cooperation and friendly Turkmen-Chinese ties.
In early September, the construction of new onshore facilities started at gas fields in the western section of Turkmenistan’s Bagtyyarlyk contract area. The project, with the implementation period of 24 months, includes commissioning of six fields – Gadyn, North Gadyn, Iljik, East Iljik, Kishtuvan and West Kishtuvan.
