Ashgabat Buildings Complex Opens in Turkmenistan’s Capital

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated in the opening ceremony of the Ashgabat buildings complex on Sunday in the Turkmen capital. The complex consists of shopping, entertainment and business center, which has no analogue in the region, and a modern residential building.

The ceremony was attended by government officials, heads of public organizations and the media. The President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov and the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov also attended the solemn ceremony, the state media of Turkmenistan reports.

The project was implemented by the local Beýik Bina Individual Enterprise in accordance with the Presidential Resolution signed in 2018. The complex, which includes a huge landscaped adjacent territory of roads and sidewalks, an overpass bridge, fountains, children's entertainment areas, an artificial canal and accompanying green areas, is located along Tehran Street.

The complex covering 8 hectares includes a 4-storey shopping and entertainment center, a 6-storey business center and a modern residential complex, as well as a 2-storey hall for celebrations with 800 seats.

The complex also houses an underground parking lot for 708 cars, a car wash and a passenger car service center, a cafe, engineering facilities, a fountain, an overpass bridge, and a 309-meter artificial canal.

A transport interchange, made in an overpass form, leads to the new landmark of Ashgabat. Advanced engineering and technical developments have been used in the design of the traffic intersection, taking into account the high load-carrying characteristics, climatic and geological conditions characteristic of our country. The overpass is 1,320-meter long and 18-meter wide. There are also walking paths.

The shopping center covering over 65,000 square meters houses more than 240 stores, a supermarket, a sports and cultural and recreational complex, cafes and food courts, beauty salons and hairdressers, soft play modules for small children, a billiard room, a bowling alley, hall, cinema, ice skating rink, recreation area and attractions.

The new residential complex with124 apartments consists of two 11-storey blocks, two 14-storey and one 17-storey block. The building has three, four and seven-room apartments. Some apartments are over 639 square meters. The residents also have an underground parking lot at their disposal.

The Ashgabat complex can withstand 9.5 magnitude earthquake, according to the report.

The new shopping and entertainment center of the country was awarded the certificate "For construction on the basis of high technologies" from the German Council of Shopping Centers, Certificate of Excellence 2021 by the Docklands Academy, London, the certificate "Peculiar Design" by the Vorarlberger Architecture Institute of Austria, and also accepted as a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC)
