Russian companies participate in overhaul and modernization of production facilities.
Work is underway to overhaul and modernize the production facilities of the Maryazot production association, a chemical plant in southeastern Turkmenistan, with the attraction of investments from Russian companies.
Deputy Prime Minister Shamuhammet Durdyliyev briefed on the ongoing work to increase production potential of the plant to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a video conference meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.
The Deputy Prime Minister reported that the design capacity of Maryazot plant of the Türkmenhimiýa (Turkmen Chemicals) State Concern is 450 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate per year. The company consists of two ammonia workshops. Due to the depreciation of obsolete technological equipment, overhaul and modernization of the main production facilities are necessary for the plant’s operation at full design capacity.
During the 11th session of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation in May 2019, the sides agreed on development of the joint investment project in this area.
Proposals from a number of Russian companies were considered appropriate for this project, taking into account their experience in modernizing the nitrogen fertilizer production plants. Representatives of these companies visited Maryazot plant and on-site got acquainted with the state of production facilities and gave a preliminary forecast on the opportunities for bringing the enterprise to its design capacity.
According to the recommendations of Russian companies, major repairs and reconstruction will take place, workshops for the production of ammonia, nitric acid, ammonium nitrate and chemical water treatment plant and other auxiliary facilities will be equipped with technological equipment and spare parts.
The completion of these works will eliminate the need to import ammonium nitrate and allow the plant to reach its full capacity and produce new types of nitrogen fertilizers.
